We had marvelous weekend with
Kedron High School students and teachers.
After visiting several cities,
Kedron High School students and teachers
paid a visit to our school to foster new friendship.
They homestayed with our students' homes over the weekend,
and left for their further trip in Japan.
１２月６日から３泊４日の日程で
オーストラリアのケドロン高校からの生徒さんが
本校生徒の家庭にホームステイで訪れました。
DAY 1
After their arrival, they met new friends and
spent some time to get to know each other before the welcome ceremony.
At the ceremony, our principal welcomed the group
and Kedron student made a greeting speech.
On the front blackboard was a message
drawn by some senior students to show our warm welcome.
６日金曜日の午後に本校に到着した一行は
ホストブラザー・シスターと対面しました。
歓迎式では、本校の校長水上が歓迎の意を示しました。
待機場所のフレンドシップハウスの黒板には
３年生有志による歓迎のメッセージが描かれています。
  
Then, Kedron students were invited to see a Shodo, calligraphy, performance given by Shodo club students.
The work was read "Zenshinn" or "Moving Forward."
They, then, tried to write their name in Kanji with a brush
on Uchiwa, a round fan,
with the help of Calligraphy club students
and their host brothers and sisters.
歓迎式の後は異文化体験活動が行われました。
書道部員による書道パフォーマンスを見学した後に、
実際に筆を手に取り、団扇に自分の名前を書く
書道体験を行いました。
ホストスチューデントが漢字を調べ、
書道部員が指導し、作品作りのサポートをしました。
 
 
Another cultural workshop was Sado, tea ceremony.
With the club students' service and the master's guidance,
they tried traditional style Japanese Maccha tea ( not sweet at all )
with Japanese sweets.
書道体験の後は、茶道部の「おもてなし」です。
師範の先生のご指導の下、茶道部員がお茶を点て、
甘くない抹茶と、季節の和菓子を楽しみました。
 
DAY 2
An International Committee of Parent-Teacher Association
kindly hosted a small welcome party for our new friends.
Our Japanese music band played a concert.
The music was composed of several kinds of Taikos and the synthesizer.
In the middle of the show, they were invited to try "Taiko."
７日土曜日は、PTAの役員さんたちが
交流会を開き、新しい姉妹校の皆さんをもてなしてくださいました。
邦楽部の迫力のある演奏会では、
実際に太鼓をたたく体験をしていただきました。
 
 
The Kedron students sang
their Australian "traditional" song "Waltzing Matilda,"
then showed modern dance in return.
The music band and host students enjoyed joining the dance!
ケドロン高校一行は、
オーストラリアの第二の国歌ともいわれる
"Walzing Matilda" を合唱してくれました。
その後は、人が集まるところでみんなで楽しむダンスを披露してくれました。
２回目には本校生徒も加わり、ますます友情を深めることができました。
 
Then, with a wonderful MC leading us all,
they enjoyed some Japanese traditional games,
which we hope would be their nice experience.
歓迎会の後半では、
役員さんの手による飾り付けがされた部屋で
「豆拾い」と「福笑い」を楽しみました。
PTAの皆さんのおもてなしの気持ちが十分に伝わり
会が終了した後も、名残惜しそうに
会場に残って話をしている姿が印象的でした。
 
DAY 3 & 4
They spent a day with their host family.
Each family had made "omotenashi" plan
to have fun time together.
They left for the next city on Monday morning.
Some of them said good-by with tears.
We all hope that they made a wonderful memory
staying with a host family, and so did our students and their families.
It was such a beautiful start of our friendship.
It was so nice meeting you all!
日曜を各家庭で過ごした一行は
月曜の朝に次の目的地に向かって旅立ちました。
ケドロン高校の皆さんが
楽しい思い出をお土産にしてくれたもの
と信じています。
また、これを機に各家庭、そして学校同士でも
友情を育んでいきたいと思います。
最後にはなりますが
ホームステイを受け入れてくださった各家庭の皆さま
おもてなしの会を主催していただいた国際交流委員の皆さま
お茶会を開いてくださった先生
特別授業を引き受けていただいた宮越先生
ホストスチューデント、書道部、茶道部、邦楽部のみなさん
